Marketing fail: Heinz QR codes accidentally link to ‘saucy’ porn site

Heinz Tomato Ketchup augmented reality recipe book

Heinz and Reckitt Benckiser get 90% brand recall with 'PlayCaptcha' branded games

In October 2013, Heinz and Reckitt Benckiser were among the first brands to sign up for Future Ad Labs’ advertising format, PlayCaptcha. The partnership saw Heinz and Reckitt Benckiser use PlayCaptcha to increase brand engagement and improve overall consumer sentiment and product recall. Early tests for both Heinz and Cillit Bang indicates that PlayCaptcha delivered engagement rates many times higher than traditional digital advertisement formats, while providing a better user experience for web page visitors.

Case study: Heinz Facebook ‘Five beanz’ quiz reaches 10m people

Back in the summer of 2012, Heinz promoted its new ‘Five Beanz’ range via a Facebook quiz offering the chance to win one of the five beans with their name engraved on it. The campaign ran for two weeks and 22,143 took the quiz, with over 10,000 shares and reached10.8m people on Facebook. In total, the Heinz Facebook community grew by 30,000 extra fans.

Case Study: Heinz Facebook App uses personalised soup cans to boost brand engagement

Heinz used a Facebook App to allow users to send friends personalised soup tins, with messages appearing below the iconic brand. The campaign allowed fans to choose their soup variety, personalise with the friend’s name and pay £1.99 to get the can delivered to their friend in days. This case study shows how with Facebook App, Heinz got fans to send out personalised soup cans friends in the cold and flu season. The campaign combined F-commerce and personalisation with seasonality to create positive brand image and increase engagement. The campaign also led to mentions on other social platforms such as Twitter.
